Dutch company Motexion specializes in the production of protective interior lining for every type of commercial vehicle and cargo. Motexion’s long relationship with UPM Plywood is built on consistent WISA®-Multiwall quality, reliable availability and responsibly sourced material.

Based in the Netherlands, Motexion designs and manufactures protective solutions for commercial vehicle cargo areas, including flooring, lining panels, door panels and roof lining. The company serves importers and dealers of well-known commercial vehicle brands, including Renault, Nissan and Ford, in the Netherlands and selected markets in Europe and beyond.

Motexion’s products are always tailored to each vehicle model. When a new van model enters the market, the company studies the shape of the cargo area, checks the fastening points and develops a kit that can be installed efficiently by the dealer. This helps dealers offer their customers protective interior lining that is designed for the vehicle they have purchased and the cargo it needs to carry.

“Our solutions are always tailored to the model. Each vehicle is different, and the fitting can also be different depending on the model,” says Motexion’s Sales Manager Bas Poldervaart.

“We produce the parts and ship them out, and the people at car dealers install them. That is why our aim is always to make the fitting as easy as possible.”

WISA®-Multiwall combines strength and flexibility

Motexion has used WISA-Multiwall since the early years of its business. Suitable for vehicle sidewalls and van lining, the coated birch plywood panel has an elastic, slightly embossed polypropylene surface that is easy to clean.

For Motexion, the value of WISA-Multiwall lies in the combination of strength, low weight and flexibility.

“We believe that birch plywood is the best wood for this purpose. Because it is such a high-quality wood, a panel thickness of only 4 millimeters is enough,” Poldervaart says.

The material must also be flexible enough to follow the curved shapes of a vehicle body.

“WISA-Multiwall is really strong but what helps is that it is still flexible. Vehicles are not straight boxes, so you want to follow the curves of the car. With WISA-Multiwall, you can still do that.”

The consistent quality of WISA-Multiwall also supports Motexion’s production, where the panels are machined into vehicle-specific parts.

“We know how to mill it with our CNC machines. We have optimized the speed and the finish, so when it comes off the machines, we do not have to do a lot of finishing.”

Reliable supply supports everyday operations

Motexion has worked with UPM Plywood for more than 25 years. According to Poldervaart, the long-term relationship has brought concrete benefits, especially when customers expect fast deliveries and demand changes quickly.

“For example, in 2024, sales in Holland went up 80% due to a tax change, so our demand for raw material was really high. UPM helped us a lot with material. We experienced that our competitors did not have material anymore, and we still had trucks coming in and enough supplies.”

WISA-Multiwall is supplied to Motexion in regular full truckloads. This dependable material flow helps the company keep its own production and customer deliveries running smoothly, from series production to special versions for dealers.

Responsible sourcing matters

“When you need a lot of plywood, people contact you from China and South America. We always refuse them, because we cannot guarantee the origin,” Poldervaart says.

For Motexion, having access to UPM’s documentation helps answer customer requests for certificates and product information. WISA-Multiwall supports that thinking: it is made from sustainably sourced wood that is FSC® (FSC C009856) and PEFC (PEFC/02-31-112) certified.  It also comes with an Environmental Product Declaration that provides third-party verified data on the product’s environmental performance.

“A lot of our customers demand that we show them the certificates. We use the documents from UPM, and that helps us a lot.”
