Sizes, thicknesses and weights

WISA® plywood offers a wide range of options in terms of panel sizes, surface grades, thicknesses, panel weight and surface treatments. No matter what type of WISA plywood you decide to use, you can rely on its performance. If a surface will be covered, appearance does not matter. And the same goes for thicknesses. You can trust WISA plywood to perform as promised.

In addition to WISA birch and spruce plywoods’ standard sizes and thicknesses larger sizes and special thicknesses and constructions are available on request. The wide range of panel sizes guarantee quick and easy installation in construction uses and the light weight brings benefits to handling, transport and transport emissions.

You will find the manufactured standard thicknesses and panel sizes of each product in our product catalogue and the detailed technical and environmental performance, on the DoP Declaration of Performance (DoP) reference list and EPD list, and, for the UK, in the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) documents.

Measuring plywood dimensions

The tolerances of WISA-plywood in dimensions up to 6000 mm meet the requirements of EN-315 and are in part stricter. Tolerances presented here are valid in panel moisture content 8-12 % and without edge sealing.

Thickness

Standard: Measurement is performed according to EN 324-1

Apparatus: Micrometer or similar measuring instrument having flat and parallel circular measuring surfaces of 16 mm diameter. Instrument should allow reading to 0,05 mm.

Determination: Measurement is performed 50 mm away from edge, from eight points as in the picture.

Results: Arithmetic average of individual measures is calculated and represents the panel thickness. Thickness is always rounded to the nearest 0,1 mm.

Length and width

Standard: Measurement is performed according to EN 324-1

Apparatus: Steel measurement tape, accurate to 1 mm

Determination: Measurement is performed 100 mm away from the corners as in the picture.

Results: Length and width dimensions are always rounded to the nearest 1 mm.

Squareness

Squareness can be measured according to standard EN 324-2 or by using applied practical way to measure the deviation.

Standard: Measurement is performed according to EN 324-2

Apparatus: Mechanical square having two arms of 1000 mm. Deviation measurement is performed by using steel rule, wedge or caliper graduated to at least 0,5 mm.

Determination: Mechanical square is placed against one side of the board and deviation is measured from corner of the mechanical square. Each edge is measured separately.

Results: Result is the largest measured value of the deviation expressed in mm/m.

Tolerance for squareness:

Squareness is measured by using crosswise measurement. Tolerance 1 mm/m.

Standard: Applied practical way to perform the measuring.

Apparatus: Steel measurement tape, accurate to 1 mm

Determination: Measurement is performed diagonally from corner to corner as in the picture.

Results: Dimension is determined with following formula: Y1-Y2 = deviation in squareness.

Straightness of edge

Standard: Measurement is performed according to standard EN 324-2.

Apparatus: Straightedge with length at least equal to the edge length of the board. Deviation measurement is performed by using steel rule, wedge or caliper graduated to at least 0,5 mm.

Determination: Straightedge is placed against a board edge and largest deviation is measured as in the picture.

Results: Measurement is red to the nearest 0,5 mm, and result expressed mm/m (largest deviation in mm divided by edge length in mm).

Tolerance for straightness of edges:

Straightness of edge is measured as in the picture above. Tolerance 1 mm/m.

Approximate weights
